Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Sociaux collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. By using Sociaux you agree to it. If you disagree, please don't use the app.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your email address, a password (stored securely by our login provider, never in readable form), your username, display name, bio, and profile and cover pictures. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We never receive your Google password.
- What you post and do: posts, images, comments, likes, reposts, follows, direct and group messages, reports you file, and accounts you block.
- Activity: when you were last active, your streak, and referral information (who invited you, and who you invited).
- Notifications: if you turn on push notifications, a technical address for your browser or device so we can send them.
- Device check: to spot people running many accounts to abuse referrals and rewards, we create a scrambled "fingerprint" from your device and browser characteristics (such as browser type, language, screen size, time zone and graphics rendering). It cannot be turned back into those details, and we use it only for fraud and abuse prevention.
- Technical data: our hosting and infrastructure providers process your IP address and basic request logs as part of delivering the service.
2. How we use it
- To run Sociaux: show your profile and posts, deliver messages, send notifications, and keep your streaks and referrals accurate.
- To keep the community safe: review reports, remove content that breaks our Terms, and detect abuse and multiple accounts.
- To pay for the service: we show advertising (see section 4).
- To contact you about your account or important changes.
3. What other people can see
- Your username, display name, bio, pictures, posts, comments, follower counts, streak and referral count are public to people using Sociaux.
- Your direct and group messages are visible to the people in those conversations. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They are stored in our database, and we may access them where needed to investigate a report, keep the service safe, or comply with the law.
- Your email address is not shown to other users.
4. Advertising
Sociaux shows ads provided by Adsterra. Ad providers may use cookies or similar identifiers in your browser to show and measure ads. We don't control what they collect; see Adsterra's own privacy policy for details. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Services we rely on
We use trusted providers to run Sociaux, and they process data on our behalf:
- Supabase for our database, login and real-time features.
- Cloudflare to host and deliver the app.
- Cloudinary to store and deliver images you upload.
- Google for "Continue with Google" sign-in, if you choose it.
- Your browser's push service (run by Google, Apple or Mozilla) to deliver notifications.
- Adsterra for advertising.
These providers may process data in countries other than your own. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety and our rights.
6. Storage on your device
Sociaux stores a login session and a few preferences (such as "remember me" and which notifications you have seen) in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data signs you out.
7. How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and what you shared: your posts, comments, likes, reposts, follows, messages, push notification details, device records, and any reward or payout records. Your direct message conversations are removed for the other person too. Copies may remain in backups for a short time before they are overwritten. Reports about content or accounts may be kept where needed to keep the community safe.
8. Your choices
- Edit your profile and delete your own posts and comments at any time.
- Turn push notifications on or off in your browser or device settings.
- Block accounts from your profile or posts; manage them in Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct it, by emailing us.
9. Children
Sociaux is not for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will remove it.
10. Security
We use reputable providers and access controls to protect your information, but no online service is perfectly secure. Please use a strong, unique password.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make an important change we will tell you in the app or by email. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
